Marriage, an institution ordained by God. It is the coming together of a man and woman with consent to live together as an independent husband and wife, overcoming intrusion from different sources in order to fulfill common goals. 

 

It was God Himself who planned the idea of marriage. Gen. 2:18-23 says, “and Lord God said it is not good that the man should be alone, I will make him an help meet…..” Therefore, marriage is part of the requirement to fulfill the plan and purpose of God in man’s life and also one of the factors to be considered if someone will actually make to the kingdom of God at the end

 

To discover God’s purpose for one’s life in marriage, there is need to have personal encounter with God. So many people miss out martially because they do not know God’s plan for their lives. It is difficult to be directed by God if you are far away from understanding His principles and precept

 

The relationship between human beings and God occurs when mutual agreement is exiting between God and man. The inability to care for our relationship with God has deprived us of peace and this gave birth to too many turbulent homes today. Home without peace is the beginning of ones journey to perdition and unfulfilling dreams. Therefore, there is need to be closer to God, understanding what He requires of us as immortals so as to access His privileges for divine intervention when it is time to take such a very crucial decision of choosing a life partner in life

 

In the life of an individual, there are three significant events; Birth, Marriage and Death. Naturally, no one is conscious of his/her birth and no one has power to choose when and where to be born. Death is also beyond the control of man but man is given the privilege and power to choose as far as marriage is concerned. But this choice of marriage is a determinant factor to the process of the entire life one will live. To some, their life can be cut short because of the kind of husband or wife they get married to and it can be otherwise for others. Preparation for marriage should begin the very day you discovered that there is need for getting married to someone in life.

 

Courtship is another sensitive issue before marriage. Marriage is a process of developing a close relationship with a person of the opposite sex, especially with idea of marriage Courtship starts the very day a lady agreed to the proposal of a man for marriage and ends the day they are joined together legally. Some Courtships might break along the way because of some reasons which includes pre-marital sex is given chance and it is more when individual differences and temperament cannot be maturely handled

 

Counseling from mature couples who had been in the journey for years with wisdom to manage their differences is strongly recommended. Maturity is an issue in marriage and at times, it has nothing to do with age. Some are mature in age but are not mature in heart and as a result they find it difficult to build a healthy relationship. Be ready to give marriage an attention rather than wedding which is a day affair. Observe all required protocols
