eBay question(s)….?
I signed up for eBay 5 years ago, and have just now begun to utilize their services. I have bid on some things and bought some items as well. I’m waiting to receive some merchandise now. I mainly purchase clothes for my daughter. So now the Questions: What does NWT or NWOT mean?
How can I tell a legit seller from a fake if possible?
Is is better to buy huge lots for $50-90 and get 10 or 12 outfit or pay a few dollars and get one shirt or one outfit?
Does it matter if you use paypal or not?
What are some things to avoid when bidding?
any other comments would be GREATLY appreciated
NWT = New With Tags
NWOT = New Without Tags
When I sell on eBay, I usually will take a picture of the item with my eBay username and a date written on a piece of paper, in the same picture, to show ownership. Read the feedback carefully. A lot of fraudulent sellers will pump up their feedback rating by purchasing a lot of small auctions (1 cent auctions that email things like recipes, books, etc….for instant positive feedback). Check their SELLER feedback, not feedback as a buyer. You don’t care if they paid 100% for the stuff they bought, just that past customers were satisfied with the stuff they sold
The good things about lot purchases, is sometimes you can save on shipping charges. If you start to buy outfits for instance one at a time, you can rack up shipping charges quickly. Make sure to read all of the shipping charges before you bid or buy the item. A $1.00 shirt can have a $8 shipping charge attached to it….making it a $9 shirt. If the same seller has for instance 10 of these shirts for sale that you want to buy, ask for “combined shipping” so you don’t get stuck paying individual shipping for each
As a buyer, Paypal is great. As a seller…not so much. Paypal can say what they want, but they protect the buyer more than the seller. If you want to pay using Paypal, it’s fine. You won’t get hit with mysterious locks on your account, and be asked to provide silly things like “invoices of your suppliers” for things you bought at a garage sale 10 years ago. Personally, I stay away from Paypal these days. As a seller, you will likely attract more buyers to your auction if you accept Paypal, and your sell price will likely be higher, than if you only accept mailed payments. Nobody wants to drop a money order in the mail anymore!
